TIDE Academy is now scheduled to be closed!
At a special meeting on February 4, 2026, the Sequoia Union High School District Board voted to shut down TIDE Academy effective June 30, 2026, despite months of testimony from students, families, and staff about how much this small public STEM high school matters to them. For many neurodivergent students, kids with anxiety, English learners, and others who cannot thrive in large, crowded high schools, TIDE has been one of the only places where they feel safe, supported, and able to learn — and this decision removes one more public option for those students.
Way to help
but you still can send a short email to decision-makers
I am a local community member and I am deeply disappointed by the Sequoia Union High School District Board’s decision to close TIDE Academy as of June 30, 2026. TIDE is one of the few small, inclusive public high schools where neurodivergent students, kids with anxiety, English learners, students from financially disadvantaged families, and others who struggle in large schools can feel safe, supported, and able to learn. Closing TIDE will cause real harm to many families and leaves our community with even fewer public options for students who cannot thrive on big campuses. I urge you to reconsider this decision, be fully transparent about the data and finances you relied on, and work with students and families to create solutions that keep small, supportive public schools like TIDE open.
